The railtrail on a chilly Monday

October 4, 2010

Took the day so I could get my car inspected (and be lazy). While waiting I took a quick stroll on the rail trail. It was windy and a bit cold, and the fall colors are starting to come in. The trail was empty except for an older couple in matching sweatsuits. The river was a little gloomy yet picturesque I stopped my stroll at the construction site where it seems MUB is expanding its capacity.

It is game time.

Leftwich sprains knee, Big Ben’s suspension reduced to 4 games

September 3, 2010

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin glances at quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (L) during the second half against the Denver Broncos at Invesco Field at Mile High on August 29, 2010 in Denver. UPI/Gary C. Caskey Photo via Newscom

Mike Tomlin’s choice for opening day quarterback was made for him by virtue of Byron Leftwich suffering a 2nd degree pull of his MCL in last nights final preseason game. The good news is that there was no tear of the ligiment, and the expected recovery time is 2-4 weeks. The injury will firmly put Dennis Dixon at the helm of the Steelers Offense for at least the first two games of the season. I predict that if Dixon preforms well in the first two, he will get to run out the string until Big Ben returns.

Heat sign Da’Sean Butler

August 30, 2010

March 13 2010: West Virginia's Most Outstanding Player Da'Sean Butler (1) celebrate with teammates their victory over Georgetown for the Big East Championship title at Madison Square Garden in New York City. West Virginia defeats Georgetown 60-58.

As expected, the Miami Heat have signed Da’Sean Butler. The next big date for Da’Sean is October 15, when the Heat doctors decide if the knee is ready. If it is then the Heat have to give him the 15th roster spot to prevent another team from taking him. If he is not, the Heat retain his rights for the year and can make room for him on the roster later in the season. The terms of the deal were not disclosed, but odds are its at the league minimum.

I can’t wait for Mountaineer basketball

August 21, 2010

I’m in the WVU Coliseum today setting up sound for tommorows freshman welcome event.  As I wait for the labor crew to finish up the stage so I can do my thing (and go home), all I can think of is the next basketball season… and how freaking hot it is in here.

No time for a post quite yet, I have a few ideas swimming around, but all of them need a pile of research I have no time to do. Hopefully I’ll have time this evening to get some blogging done. Coming up this week on Lost in the Woods…
